At BOM, we’re hungry for data. Did you know that in April 2022, IT jobs made up more than a third (37%) of all job openings: a significant growth of 147% compared to April 2021!
As a result, this sector topped the list of employers in April 2022.
What constitutes the IT sector?
Basically, the IT sector (information technology) includes all “new jobs” that rely more or less on recent technologies and are in some way linked to innovation.
As digital technology is still a relatively new sector, candidates trained in these emerging careers and associated modern technologies are also part of the IT workforce.
Fun fact: half of all IT experts work for companies where the primary field of operation is NOT information technology. You read that right! Today, more and more companies have support services, security services and so on, especially since the pandemic and globalization of remote work!
Other industries in high demand
Jobs in management, accounting, finance and banking have doubled in demand compared to the same time a year ago.
Indeed, this sector has increased its demand by 140%, registering 12% of all job offers posted in April 2022.
Top 10 in-demand tech jobs in April 2022:
- IT and electronics
- Call centres
- Management and accounting
- Banking
- Sales and export
- HR, personnel management and training
- Project management, studies and R&D
- Production, quality, safety and maintenance
- Procurement and supply chains
- Process, methodology and industrialization management
Highly educated and experienced candidates
In April, the majority of employers were still looking for experienced candidates who held a master’s degree. And this trend is continuously on the rise! Indeed, demand for these candidates has doubled since April 2021.
On the flip side, just 15% of jobs required only a high school diploma.
When it comes to experience, companies mainly seek out people with 1 to 3 years of experience. This demand has increased sixfold since April 2021! The same is true for people with 3 to 5 years of experience: the demand has doubled in a single year.
Entry-level postings, on the other hand, accounted for only 30% of job offers in April 2022, even though they represented more than half (60%) of vacancies just a year earlier!
